Daily Routine

MORNING SESSION 9.00 am – 12.30 pm

9.00 – 9.25 – Arrivals and play with our friends: Children and parents/carers are warmly greeted by the staff, children enjoy the independence of putting their snacks and belongings away in appropriate places before being settled with their peers to enjoy the session – not forgetting a big cuddle and saying ‘see you later’ to loved ones. A selection of the children’s favourite activities and sensitive key persons encourage them to settle quickly.

9.25 – 9.30 – Tidy up time! On hearing our bell the group awaits instruction! We work together to clear resources away making it a valuable learning experience for team work, helping others, listening and following instructions, understanding positional language and much much more.

9.30 – 9.45Good morning registration & Circle time: We join together after a quick tidy up and say good morning to each child individually in stimulating ways such as signing, singing or through fun games like ‘I spy’ or ‘Guess who…’ We also use this time to introduce themes such as ‘The Circus’ or to share thoughts, feelings and ideas.

9.45 – 11.00Play, explore and learn. A range of activities are set up for the children to explore both independently or with structured guidance from Key persons. Activities are based on the children’s current interests, curiosities and fascinations, as well as exciting events or inspiring ideas from staff and families. Activities are differentiated to meet individual needs and open to any avenue of change the children may take them on.

10.00 – 10.45Fabulous “Five a day” snack café!: The children can choose when they are ready to finish their busy explorations and stop to re-fuel! Before starting they sing our ‘Please and Thank you’ song and then the children tuck in and enjoy a wide selection of fruits and vegetables brought in from home. This sparks lots of discussion about likes, dislikes, who has the same, what we eat at home and of course we all have a good chat about whatever is on our minds! Once finished we say “Thank you, please may I leave the table?” and return to their play or get ready for going outside.

11.00 – 11.40 / 11.55Fun and games outside: Our stunning outside area overlooks the surrounding countryside making the perfect backdrop to any creative and imaginative play. The children have access to a wide range of physical equipment as well as taking almost any resources outside! We make the most of the beautiful environment and encourage confidence in exploring nature. Children on half days come in earlier for “Fast trackers” lunch. Those staying all day have a later lunch.

11.45 / 12.00“Once upon a time”……group story or Music & Movement. The group join together in our quiet area, collect a cushion and settle for a short calming story or a selection of our favourite songs, rhymes or poems before preparing to wash hands for lunch.

11.45 – 12.20Fast trackers Together time lunch! 12.00 – 12.25Together time lunch: The children going home after lunch start slightly earlier so that they are ready for collection at 12.30. Before starting we sing our lunch time ‘Thank you’ song and the children eagerly wait to hear who will be the helper of the day. Lunches are given out by our helper and then we tuck in to our yummy lunches brought from home. We enjoy chatting about the day’s events and children often help each other to open or tidy away packets! Once finished we say “Thank you, please may I leave the table?” and enjoy sharing stories quietly as children are collected.

AFTERNOON SESSION 12.30 pm – 3.30 pm

12.25 – 1.00Rest and Relaxation/quiet play and exploration: The group enjoy a selection of quiet stories, puzzles, games, music or activities as some children depart and some join for the afternoon session.
